Stonnall Action Group is a resident-led response to proposals for up to 450 homes at Grove Hill. The developer says an outline planning application is being prepared. We are organising now so that when it arrives, Stonnall can respond quickly, factually and together.

The scale of the proposal
450
homes is not a small extension to Stonnall.

What we know now.
Redrow are promoting a scheme for up to 450 new homes at Grove Hill, together with public open space and associated facilities.
The developer's current website says the masterplan is still being drawn up, that technical studies will accompany the eventual submission, and that an outline planning application is planned.
That distinction matters. There is not yet a live planning application for residents to object to. Our job now is to build the community network, gather expertise, understand the evidence and be ready to scrutinise the documents properly when they arrive.
What changes when an application lands? We publish the application reference, deadline, document summaries and evidence-based guidance for residents. Until then, we will not manufacture a deadline or ask people to object to documents that do not yet exist.
This campaign will be firm, but it will be credible. The planning case is stronger when it is based on the actual policy, the actual evidence and the actual effect on the place.
01
Green Belt
Green Belt remains highly relevant, but it is not a one-line veto. The new national framework published on 17 August 2026 contains specific tests for development in the Green Belt. We will test any application against the policy that actually applies.
02
Scale & infrastructure
A proposal of this size must be tested against roads, drainage, schools, healthcare, utilities and the mitigation offered. We will avoid unsupported claims and publish the evidence as it becomes available.
03
Landscape & character
Grove Hill and the Lone Tree form part of Stonnall's setting and identity. Landscape, visual impact, ecology and the relationship between the village and surrounding countryside deserve proper technical scrutiny.
04
The development plan
The Stonnall Neighbourhood Plan Review was made in December 2025 and forms part of the development plan. Any eventual application must be assessed in the full planning context, not simply against a developer's promotional case.
Standing together
With our neighbours.
Stonnall Action Group was established to oppose the proposed development of up to 450 homes at Grove Hill and to protect the character and future of our village.
Standing together with our neighbours
But we also recognise that development pressure will not stop at Stonnall's boundary. Proposals of this scale are likely to become increasingly common across our surrounding communities in the years ahead.
That is why SAG proudly supports our neighbours in Shenstone, Little Aston, Walsall Wood, Lynn, Aldridge and Brownhills.
Where we can, we will share what we learn, the evidence we gather, the contacts we make and the experience we gain. We hope that by standing together, our communities can give each other a stronger voice when it matters most.
The most important date right now
18.09.26
Stonnall needs a full room.
On Friday 18 September at 7:00pm, Stonnall Action Group will hold a public meeting at the Village Hall. We want residents to hear what we know, understand what happens next, ask questions and see how the village can organise effectively.
Please come, and please encourage your neighbours to come too. A proposal of this scale deserves a community that is informed, prepared and visible.
The point of launching now is not to pretend the application is further advanced than it is. It is to make sure the village is organised when the formal process begins.
01
Build the network
Launch the group, website and community channels. Recruit residents with planning, highways, ecology, legal, design and communications experience.
02
Track the proposal
Watch the developer consultation and council planning portal. Publish only confirmed changes and documents.
03
Test the evidence
When the application arrives, review the actual planning statement, transport, drainage, ecology, landscape and infrastructure material.
04
Help residents respond
Give people clear, sourced guidance so they can make relevant representations in their own words within the formal consultation period.
Preparing for the application
How to write an effective objection
You do not need to submit an objection yet. There is not currently a live planning application or formal objection deadline.
We do, however, want residents to understand what makes an objection relevant and effective before the consultation opens. Stonnall Action Group will run a practical session explaining the planning process, the issues that matter, what to avoid, and how to put your own case clearly in your own words.
When the application is submitted, we will publish the application reference, deadline, key documents and evidence-based guidance.
Our first major public meeting will take place at Stonnall Village Hall at 7pm. We will explain the current position, the work already underway and what residents can do next. The strongest signal the village can send now is simple: turn up.
Stonnall Action Group has launched its website, Facebook presence and village communications so residents can get information from one consistent source.
Resident-led campaigning already visible around Stonnall
On the ground
The village is already moving.
The energy already exists. SAG's job is to turn that energy into something coordinated, useful and credible.
Physical visibility matters. Banners, window stickers, shop materials and door drops all help, but the public campaign should sit behind one consistent identity and one consistent tone: calm, factual, firm and respectful.
We challenge proposals and evidence. We do not pick fights with neighbours, councillors or people who take a different view.
Get involved
Useful action, not noise.
Join the community, help distribute information, offer expertise, sign the petition or help fund the professional evidence the campaign may need. The stronger the network now, the better prepared Stonnall will be.
